A Reputation for Quality
“Getting it right the first time” – that’s what quality means to Darren Sanderson, who’s been with Hall Tank for over 18 years and once ran their quality control. “We teach quality, we hire quality, and [then] they produce quality,” he says, discussing a basic overview of company tactics to maintain the reputation Hall Tank has for being, well…The Quality Tank Company.
So committed to quality is Darren, that when he transferred from sister company Bush-Whacker to Hall Tank in the early 2000’s to handle customer service and custom quotes (back when there was only one salesman), he immediately instigated that the company move from paper document tracking to digital. “The spreadsheet had everything in it–cost, specs, contact info for the customer, anything we needed to know in one searchable sheet.”
This quick thinking brought Hall Tank modern, where they’ve been ahead of the game since. Immediately, tracking improved for the sales and production teams, and there were less errors with production (which of course, improved quality). In addition to his other tasks and duties, Darren maintained the sheet and all the orders associated with it. “Now,” he says, “we take a team approach, and have a new software to replace the spreadsheet.” What started as an individual project to increase productivity and quality has now become company standard, with the software allowing for more staff to access the database and being able to double and triple check accuracy.
Aside from operations, Darren says there are more reasons as to why Hall Tank has earned its reputation. “I think the fact that we’re a small company helps a lot,” he says. “Even the customer can call up and say, ‘I want to talk to Robert Hall,’ and without getting the runaround, they can talk to him.” The company is family friendly, and management is very involved in the day to day operations–highlighting yet more reasons as to why Hall Tank is committed to doing what’s necessary to maintain high standards of quality.
